FETU Petitions Ministry on Minimum Wage for Technical Workers
FETU has formally petitioned the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development to set an enforceable minimum wage for engineers, technologists, technicians and artisans engaged on public infrastructure contracts. The petition, backed by district submissions from across the country, calls for wage benchmarks tied to certification level, timely payment on government-funded sites, and penalties for contractors who delay salaries beyond 30 days. FETU leadership will present supporting evidence gathered from member grievance filings during the next stakeholder session.
2026 General Assembly Announced
The FETU 2026 General Assembly will convene delegates from all covered districts to review the federation's annual report, elect committee positions falling vacant, and adopt the 2027 advocacy agenda. Regional heads will coordinate delegate accreditation, and district representatives should submit their delegate lists through their regional office. Members in good standing may attend as observers; registration details and the full agenda will be circulated to all approved members and published on this page.
Insurance Scheme for Artisans Launched
FETU has launched a group accident and health insurance scheme tailored to artisans and technicians working in high-risk environments. The scheme offers cover for work-site injury, in-patient treatment and income protection during recovery, at pooled member rates far below individual cover. Enrolment opens to approved members and runs through district representatives, who will verify membership status and collect the first contribution cycle.
